Eleanor Brown Folios

What is a “Folio”?.....A folio is an unbound collection of unmatted original fine art images that fits somewhere between a portfolio (which usually has larger prints) and a book (which has bound “reproduction printed copies of original work).  My folios are small *usually 8X10.5 to 8.5X11 inches) and designed to be hand held, though the prints can certainly be matted and framed if desired.  There are usually 4 text pages printed on Neenah heavyweight 80 lb. cover  weight textured papers.  I hand cut the Neenah 100lb. cover weight textured enclosure.

Each folio is custom printed and completely hand made.  Each folio contains anywhere from 8 to 15 related original images that are printed on carefully selected heavy weight fine art papers.  I have always liked the look and “feel” of original photographic fine art images on fine papers and enjoy viewing these prints “in hand” not covered by glazing of any kind.  This is what I have achieved with my folios.  Below are sample contact sheets of images from  the folios I have designed and created so far.

All folios are signed on the front of the folio cover enclosure, on the title page of the text pages and on the back of each individual print.

Folios can be used as a “coffee table” unbound book, individual prints can be framed in small groups or can be framed in a single frame as a triptych.  Individual prints can also be given as gifts.

* For those interested in an excellent video “workshop” on DVD on how to produce your own folios, I highly recommend the Lenswork Folio Workshop on DVD.
